Warm Greetings to Everyone!

May  will be another busy month filled with town activities.  The next meeting of the Town Board is scheduled for Monday, May 10th at 7:30 p.m.  Some of the items that will be covered at this meeting include: possible changes to Veteran's town tax exemptions, reports from the town park committee, the cable TV committee, and the senior citizen committee.

The town board is considering the possibility of starting its meetings at 7:00 PM instead of 7:30 PM.  We would like some feedback from the residents stating their opinion on this issue. The Saratoga County Department of Public Works has informed the town that to make the road safer, County Road No. 69, Coveville Road, from NYS Rt. 32 to US Rt. 4 will be reconstructed this year.  The road drainage system will be rebuilt and some clearing of trees within the county Right-of Way may be necessary. The alignment of the highway will remain approximately the same.  The Earth Day Clean up was a huge success. A special thank you to all who helped.  The town will be designing and erecting new signs to be placed on all state highways at the entrances to the town.  Anyone interested in joining our efforts should contact Tom Wood or Grant Seymour.

Town Court News  Senior Town Justice Jack Ditch recently announced the appointment of  Dawn Knight as the new court clerk to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Melodee Haney.  The Town Court offices have been moved to the basement level of the town hall and are entered through the doors at the rear of the Town Hall.  The town court office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Quaker Springs Fire Department Chicken Barbecue   The Quaker Springs Fire Department will conduct their annual Spring Barbecue on Sunday, May 2nd from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM.  Support the fire department and enjoy a delicious meal.

David Mathis Appointed New Town Justice      At the April 12th Town Board meeting David Mathis was appointed to fill the Town Justice vacancy created by the death of Judge James S. Priest.  David brings a great amount of experience and enthusiasm to the position.
Saratoga Lake Association News

The next meeting of the Saratoga Lake Association will be held at Panza's on Rt. 9P on Thursday, May 20th at  7:00 PM.  Items scheduled for the agenda include: an update on the fight to keep Saratoga Lake from becoming a reservoir, new bylaws for the association, information on new efforts to harvest weeds, the annual spring road cleanup, the new Saratoga Lake calendar, and SLA t-shirts and sweatshirts.  The official website of the association is www.saratogalake.org.  Saratoga Lake is a valuable resource to the town and I encourage all Town residents to join the SLA and take a proactive role in protecting Saratoga Lake.
