Warm Greetings to Everyone! 

It does not seem possible that September has arrived and the summer with its heavy rains is over.   The next meeting of the Town Board is scheduled for Monday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m.  Some of the items that will be covered at this meeting include: zoning officer's report, town clerk's reports, supervisor's report, and committee reports. 

Local Law number 8, authorizing raffles and bell jar games of chance subject to voter referendum was recently passed.  The 2005 budget process has begun and is steadily moving forward.  Bookkeeper Catherine DeFelice is utilizing a new software program that will help streamline the process. Departments are submitting needs that will be reviewed and evaluated.  

Paul Griffen is updating, re-organizing, and making the zoning book more user friendly.     I have recently initiated conversations regarding the possible location for a new town hall.  Town Engineer Ken Martin will make contact with regulatory agencies to identify concerns and suitability of possible sites.

Grant Seymour and the Town Highway Department have finished the repaving of Burgoyne Road.  The quality of the job is excellent and reflects the skills and professionalism of the Town crew.

            The Town Board recently authorized the Schuylerville Area Chamber of Commerce to use space in the town hall basement for an office.  A new literature rack has been placed in the entrance of the Town Hall.

Corinne Ward was re-appointed to a five year term on the Board of Assessment Review.  Corinne brings a vast knowledge of real estate to this position and is a valuable asset to the board.

 

Saratoga Lake Association News

     The Saratoga Lake Association will sponsor the Saratoga Lake Triathlon on September 11th .The Saratoga Lake Social Committee announces that a Farewell to Summer BBQ will be held on September 19th.The official website of the association is www.saratogalake.org.  This site is a source of much detailed information about events and activities taking place at the lake. 

Public Hearing on Agricultural District # 1

A public hearing on the proposed continuation for eight years of the Saratoga County Consolidated Agricultural District # 1 and the proposed modifications to the district will be held at he Town Hall on Wednesday, September 15th at 7:00 PM.  Saratoga County Consolidated Agricultural District # 1  encompasses portions of the Towns of Moreau, Northumberland, Saratoga, Stillwater, and Wilton.  The meeting, held by The Saratoga County Board of Supervisors, will consider any proposed modifications to the District and the recommendations of the Saratoga County Planning Board and the Saratoga County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board.  

 

 

Position Open for ZBA and Planning Board Clerk 

The position of Zoning Board of Appeals and Planning Board Clerk will be open effective January 1, 2005.  In response to the increased number of applications and increased requests for information, the duties and responsibilities of the position requires the clerk to have regular office hours, Monday - Friday, 2 hours per day in the Town Hall and be able to work additional hours at peak periods during the month. In addition the clerk must attend and take minutes of all ZBA and Planning Board meetings, provide and process applications, type agendas, distribute packets of cases, refer required cases to the county, place all meeting notices and legal ads in a timely manner, maintain a minute book, case index and files, and answer all phone calls and messages.  Anyone interested in applying for the position should contact either Supervisor, Thomas Wood or Town Clerk, Ruth Drumm.   

Concert at the Beach Stage

On Thursday, September 2nd a concert featuring singer-song writer Bob Warren will be conducted at the Schuylerville Beach from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  This will be an excellent program and everyone is invited to attend the free concert.
