Warm Greetings to Everyone!

The arrival of October places us in the final quarter of the year.  Our energies are now divided between working on this year’s business and making plans for next year.  The next meeting of the Town Board is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12th at 7:00 p.m.  Some of the items that will be covered at this meeting include: zoning officer's report, town clerk's report, supervisor's report, town hall building committee report, cell tower update, and committee reports.  Bids will be opened for the sale of the 1996 Ford Dump Truck and for the purchase of sand, gravel, fuel oil, and diesel fuel.  The Town Board Agenda meeting will be held on Thursday, October 6th at 7:00 pm.  The town offices will be closed Monday, October 10th in observance of the Columbus Day Holiday.

Jeannie Duval, Director of the Town Youth Program, reports that nearly 500 children participated in the Town Youth Festival.

The Zoning Amendment Advisory Committee continues to work on revising the zoning regulations.  Residents with ideas and suggestions should put them in writing and share them with town officials.  Both the ZBA and Planning Board continue to have full agendas at their meetings.

We have developed a tentative budget and will be reviewing it closely for needed adjustments.

Saratoga Lake Association News

The SLA will conduct their next meeting at 7:00 pm  on October 27th at Panza’s Restaurant. The City of Saratoga Springs has recently proposed amending their “Ordinance for Water Course Protection.”  This will need to be closely monitored as it may impact uses and procedures within the Town of Saratoga.  There is increasing concern that the City of Saratoga Springs will again pursue using Saratoga Lake as a source of municipal water.  We must take action to prevent this from occurring.  Again all town residents living along Saratoga Lake are reminded to complete the Saratoga Lake Water System Connection Survey Form.  Even though the set date for submission has passed it is not too late.  In order for the town to receive state approval for the extension of the waterline, there must be evidence of a substantial interest on the part of the perspective users.  It is critical that all Town residents along Saratoga Lake complete the form and send it in to The Saratoga Glen Hollow Water Supply Corporation, 90 Campbell Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.  Copies of this form are on the town web page www.townofsaratoga.com and may be downloaded.  In addition, copies are available at the town hall and from the SLA.    The official website of the association is www.saratogalake.org.  This site is a source of detailed information about events and activities taking place at the lake.

Saratoga Monument Rededication

On Monday, October 10th at 1:00 pm the National Park Service will be conducting ceremonies marking the Rededication of the Saratoga Monument.  Following the ceremonies, there will be a reception at the American Legion Post 278 on Clancy Street at which there will  be exhibits of historic memorabilia, refreshments, and entertainment.
