Warm Greetings ! 

The month of May finds us planting gardens and mowing lawns.  It marks the unofficial start of summer and opportunities to enjoy our great outdoors.  The next meeting of the Town Board is scheduled for Monday, May 9th at 7:00 p.m.  Some of the items that will be covered at this meeting include: zoning officer's report, town clerk's report, supervisor's report, committee reports, consideration of a town credit card, Employee Handbook review, cell tower update, and a report from the Zoning Amendment Advisory Committee.  On Thursday, May 5th the Town Board will conduct their monthly agenda meeting at which they will review agenda items scheduled for the May 9th meeting.  In addition, at 6:00 PM prior to the agenda meeting, the fourth meeting of the Town Hall Building Committee will be conducted.  At this fourth meeting there will be a presentation by the survey committee, reports on possible sites, review of earlier designs considered by the Town Of Saratoga, review of visits to newly constructed town halls in the county, town hall use and space needs, site boring report, and a presentation by Dick Butler of Butler, Rowland, and Mays Architects from Mechanicville.  

We recently learned that the Town of Saratoga Environmental  Protection Fund grant to develop the Schuylerville (Old Saratoga) section of the Champlain Canal Trail between the Schuyler House and Lock 5 has been approved. 

In observance of Memorial Day, the Town of Saratoga Offices will be closed on Monday, May 30th.   Everyone is reminded that the monthly town newsletter, monthly calendar, and minutes of all town meetings are on the internet at www.townofsaratoga.com

Saratoga Lake Association News

The next general membership meeting of the SLA will be held on May 26th at Panza’s Restaurant at 7:00 PM.  The Annual meeting of the SLA is scheduled for July 28th at Panza’s Restaurant.  Saratoga Lake is a valuable resource to the town and I encourage all Town residents to join the SLA and take a proactive role in protecting Saratoga Lake. New York State Farmland Protection Program & Saratoga County Farmland and Open Space Preservation Program

The Saratoga County Farmland and Open Space Preservation Committee has provided the Town Hall with copies of the grant application for 2005.  The package includes the program criteria for eligible projects, the grant application form for open space projects and the grant application form for agriculture.   The application period opens on April 1st and closes June 30th.

Schuylerville-Victory Water Board News

The Water Board is currently working on the water budget.  The next water workshop will be held in Victory on May 10th at 6:00 p.m. and the next Water Board meeting will be held in Victory on May 17th at 7:00 p.m.  

Quaker Springs Fire Department News

On Sunday, May 1st the annual Chicken Barbecue will be conducted from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.  Tickets are $8. for adults, $5. for children age 6-12 and free for children 5 and under.  Take out meals are available.  For reservations call 584-3829 or 584-2758.   Support the fire department and enjoy a delicious meal.

David Nevins Fire Department News

The David Nevins Fire Department conducts BINGO every Sunday beginning at 5:30 pm in the large meeting room at the Victory Office Complex.

General Schuyler Emergency Squad News

            The GSES Variety Show conducted at the Schuylerville High School Auditorium on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 PM was a huge success.

Memorial Day Parade

The American Legion Old Saratoga post #278 in Schuylerville will sponsor the annual Memorial Day parade to be held on Monday, May 30th.  The parade will start at 9:30 AM at the American Legion and will travel down Clancy Street, East on Burgoyne Street and end up at the Bandstand in the village park next to Fish creek.  The program and ceremony will honor all of the heroes who have served their nation and community and have ultimately made the supreme sacrifice.

Sundae on the Farm will be conducted at the Hanehan Dairy Farm on County Road 67 on Sunday, June 19th.  More details will follow next month.
