Warm Greetings to Everyone! 

August will be another busy month filled with town activities.  The next meeting of the Town Board is scheduled for Monday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m.  Some of the items that will be covered at this meeting include: zoning officer's report, town clerk's reports, supervisor's report, public hearing on the noise ordinance, town hall building committee report, Saratoga Lake Water Survey, cell tower update, and committee reports. The Town Hall Building Committee will meet on Wednesday, August 3rd at 6:00 pm and the Town Board Agenda meeting will be held on Thursday, August 4th at 6:00 pm.

The zoning amendment advisory committee continues to work on revising the zoning regulations.  Residents with ideas and suggestions should put them in writing and share them with town officials.  Both the ZBA and Planning Board continue to have full agendas at their meetings.  We are starting the budget process by reviewing current levels of expenditures and needs for next year.

Town Swim Program 

Jeannie Duval, Program Director of the Town Swim Program, reports that the Learn to Swim Program continues to go well with over 130 swimmers enrolled in the program.  A program web site, www.jeannieduval.tripod.com  shows course descriptions, class pictures, cancellations, and parent information.

Saratoga Lake Association News

     The Saratoga Lake Association conducted their annual meeting at Panza's on Rt. 9P on Thursday, July 28th at 7:00 pm.  Items discussed included: extension of the water line into the Town of Saratoga (see accompanying article), Sheriff’s Department presentation on boating, meetings with town supervisors, County Hudson River water plan, budget for next year, election of officers, SLPID report, and harvesting water chestnuts, (call Jim Nelson at 584-2389 for info).  The 11th annual Saratoga Lake Yard Sale will be held August 12th and 13th from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.   The official website of the association is www.saratogalake.org.  This site is a source of much detailed information about events and activities taking place at the lake. 

 

Saratoga Lake Water System Connection Survey  The Saratoga Glen Hollow Water Supply Corporation would like to expand their water service to the residents of the Town of Saratoga.  They currently are installing the water system in the Town of Stillwater along Route 9P and will be at the Town of Saratoga line within two years.  In order for them to extend their water lines into the Town of Saratoga there are strict rules that they must follow in order to get approval.  One of the first steps that must be conducted is the completion of a survey of the customer base to determine their level of interest.  All Town of Saratoga residents living along Route 9P are encouraged to complete the Water Connection Survey form.  Copies of the survey form and information sheet are on the Town Web page at www.townofsaratoga.com.  Copies are also available at the town hall and SLA.  The completed form should be should be returned to: The Saratoga Glen Hollow Water Supply Corporation, 90 Campbell Road, Schenectady, NY 12306.

Turning Point - 5K Race - Parade - & -  Family Fun Day  Be sure to attend the Turning Point Parade in Schuylerville on Sunday, August 7th.  The Parade starts at 1:00 PM and will travel the length of Broad Street.  The 5K Race begins at 9:00 am and the family activities conducted at Fort Hardy Park will begin shortly after the parade.  Activities at Fort Hardy include musical performances, a petting zoo and will conclude with fireworks at dusk.

18th Century Day at the Schuyler House

The annual 18th Century Day will be held at the Schuyler House on Sunday, August 14th .  The program will start at 12:00 noon and continue until 5:00 PM.  Activities scheduled for the day include tours of the Schuyler House, colonial music, militia drills, and demonstrations by over twenty-four 18th century craftsmen.  The program is sponsored by the Old Saratoga Historical Association and the Saratoga National Historical Park.  Please make an effort to attend.

18th Century Day Chicken Barbecue

On Sunday, August 14th The Old Saratoga Reformed Church will conduct their annual Chicken Barbecue at the church on Pearl Street from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.  The meal includes: ½ chicken, baked potato, sweet corn, Dutch slaw, rolls, homemade cakes, and beverages.  The cost for adults is $8.00, children ages 5-12 are $4.00 and children 4 and under are free.  Walk ins are welcome but reservations are recommended.  Call  695-3061 or 692-7748 for reservations.  Takeouts are available.
